Psychotherapy Services

Individual

Individual therapy allows you to explore, understand and develop new coping strategies for managing anxiety, depression, trauma and relationship issues. It’s also helpful in navigating life events, including dating, relocation, grief and loss, career changes, marriage and parenting.

EMDR

EMDR is a somatic therapy that reprocesses traumatic memories and negative self concepts, thereby removing the emotional charge of these memories and their physical triggers.

Traumatic experiences often become fixed in the body-mind in the form of difficult and confusing emotions and physical symptoms.   Traumas vary in their severity, and all of us have experienced them in some form, from loss of a job, childhood bullying, or divorce to chronic illness, abuse, or death of a loved one.   Traumas can cause us to develop narrow and limiting views of ourselves and the world, keeping us from living to our full potential and even creating unhealthy issues.

EMDR is a way to process through these stored somatic memories and shift negative self-concepts so they no longer hold us back.

Couples

When working with couples I often work within the framework of a fixed number of sessions. This allows us to identify core issues that are important to both of you and decide on and set goals to focus on in your sessions.

I offer premarital counseling, where couples negotiate central concerns including communication, finances, family planning, career paths, and household roles.

Couples’ therapy can also be very helpful during the break-up or divorce process.
